What to expect
At MindStretch, the different sessions are carefully designed to get the best out of the program’s methodology:
The Introductory Session
An overview of the MindStretch methodology and a question and answer session is provided. Jennifer, in conjunction with the parents, will then discuss the areas of concern relating to the child’s specific challenges. This session takes one hour.
The Assessment
The assessment identifies the underlying causes of the individual’s learning challenges. The individual will be asked to perform a variety of demonstrated activities and tasks while the practitioner, Jennifer, observes. This will enable Jennifer to learn more about the individual’s challenges and provide the information needed to make a detailed assessment of the way in which the individual’s brain is processing the given information.
Parents are encouraged to sit in on the assessment. The assessment takes two hours.
The Activity Programme
MindStretch will present to you the results of the assessment in which an overview of the individual’s neurological processing skills is explained. The practitioner, Jennifer, will instruct you in how to implement the customised programme of activities. The individual will be filmed while being guided through the tailor-made take-home movement programme and you will be supplied with a DVD of the activity programme. Sustainable progress is dependent on your child doing the exercises for between 20 and 30 minutes daily. This feedback session takes one hour and 20 minutes.
Monthly Review
For the duration of the programme, a monthly assessment is mandatory so that we can record and track progress and update the exercises accordingly. This programme review takes one hour.
